The Assemblies of God in Malaysia

It is my pleasure to present to the council this report on the activities that were carried out by the National Stewardship Department in 2003. No new project or program was carried out by the NSD except for the ongoing administration of the EduCare Fund and the Minister's Hospitalization and Surgical Insurance scheme. In this regard I would like to thank Rev. Dominic Chan and his dedicated team of workers in the AG council office for their invaluable help given to the NSD. I would also like to thank Rev. Ronnie Chin, the General Treasurer and Rev. Yee Tham Wan the Central District Superintendent for helping me with the interviews of the applicants for the EduCare Scholarship Fund.

In 2003 interviews were conducted by Scholarship Award Committee comprising of the General Treasurer of the AOG, The District Superintendent and the NSD Director on applicants for the scholarship. Of the four applications received, one was successful. Approval is based on fulfilling all the stipulated requirements laid out by the fund policies. We are thankful to God that the AG EduCare Fund has been a blessing to the successful applicants and they can now pursue their studies according to the grace of God given to them. On their behalf, I would like to thank the churches which have contributed to the fund thus far to enable the program to run. At the moment, not many churches have supported the fund yet but it would be great if more churches would do so. I would like to invite and call upon both individuals and churches to take up an offering at least once this year for the fund. Let us give to this worthy cause of supporting the next generation of Christian leaders and professionals.

Your financial and prayer support for the Fund is vital to the successful continuation of the scholarship program.

The Hospitalization and Surgical Insurance has been a tremendous source of blessings since its implementation to some of our ministers who required hospitalization and surgical care during their illness. All in more than 25 claims were made last year on the policy. However, due to the high payout on the policy claims in 2003, the insurance company has indicated the need to revise the premium on the policy. In view of this we ask for your prayers and support to help the council keep the policy alive in 2004. At the point of writing of this report negotiation with the company is still underway and we trust the Lord that this insurance policy will continue to provide the coverage for hospitalization and surgical costs for our council members when they need it.

Having said that, I would strongly encourage members of the council to rally behind the EXCO in their effort to ensure that this insurance coverage will continue for the benefit of the council members. Please support the proposals that the EXCO will bring up in regard to this in the coming General Council. Thank you!
