The
main objective of this department was to process the application
to pioneer new A/G churches in Malaysia. The Home Mission Director
works in consultation with the respective Districts or Divisions
where the proposed new work is to be started. Together, they analyse
whether the proposed work is properly constituted; with a credentialed
worker, financial ability and whether it is located in close proximity
with another A/G church. After this process, the Home Mission Director
will endorse or reject the new application. This is then reported
to the Executive Committee during the EXCO meeting. The approved
works will then receive a letter of approval, a Xerox copy of our
Trustees Act Ordinance and a Certificate of Affiliation. Each of
these works may be started under a mother church covering or directly
under the Home Missions Department. It is through this process that
the Home Missions Department provides legal covering to all Home
Missions approved works.
The
Department also assists to familiarize Home Mission pastors in regards
to Home Mission policies with a view to establish and mature our
churches. Subsequently, our aim is to encourage them to be set in
order to become sovereign churches. The Home Missions Department
also steps in to help churches that are under its jurisdiction who
may be going through problems.
Recently,
the EXCO who is the Home Missions Committee, have drafted guidelines
for the starting of "Satellite Churches" which are extensions
of the main church. With new developments and growth within our
movement, new guidelines like the above stated will have to be drafted
in order that we can meet up with new challenges. It is our target
that the pioneering spirit will continue to be formed and with the
department's assistance, our churches will continue to be effectively
runned.
